FIRST AIRCRAFT FERRY JOB!!!!!

WHAT A GREAT TIME!!
12/30/05

This is the cheezy gratuitous self pic while on my first ferry job.
My flight school has been trying to get rid of the fleet of 152 sardine cans we have. They are great little planes to tool around in but I think 172s are the way to go when it comes to learning how to fly.

The job was ferrying a 152 from KSAT (San Antonio International) to KAAO (James Jabara Field in Kansas City). The flight was uneventful on the first leg from KSAT to KDTO. Other than the winds blowing at 32+KIAS at altitude and slowing me down to approx. 50kts groundspeed I had a great time. I made KDTO with exactly the minimums on 100LL (whew!!). I went into town and had lunch, drove around and saw some friends. As a graduate of the University of North Texas (NTSU) it brought back some wonderful memories and I'll always consider little "D" as our 2nd home.

I took off late afternoon and flew over old Lake Ray Roberts where I used to fly fish for sandies by the damn, heading north. After flying through Oklahoma it was interesting keeping sit. aware as dusk fell. the plane was VFR only with only one VOR to navigate by. I sure wish I had a handheld gps, Even a garmin 96 would have been an indispensable tool (note to self).

Update:  068/28/09 After this job I haven't ferried an aircraft since.....Posted by Picasa
